Pakayak is a high performance hard-shell kayak that happens to come apart and pack down to 3.5 feet. And, it'll change the world. Go where you want, store it where you want, carry it on your back, take it in your convertible and paddle it just like a traditional hard-shell kayak.
Latest Updates from Our Project:
New Marketing Campaign, New Website, Demos, and You!

Dear Backers,
Whew! We have been so busy behind the scenes. As a result, in a few weeks we will have a new look –– and we want you to be the first to know! We will be launching a new website and starting a new marketing campaign. Below is a sneak preview of the new campaign, highlighting the differences between a regular 14-foot kayak and a Pakayak Bluefin 14.
Please note that the Pakayaks we'll be showing are not production boats, just new prototypes. We are still on track for an October start of production.
To help increase our marketing efforts, we have taken one of the new prototypes and outfitted it for demo purposes. The boat we are using is made from sections molded with our new plastic and held together using new prototype clamps that we had made to meet our specifications. By doing this, we can offer folks the opportunity to demo our boats before we go into production. You'll see an email about that soon.
DETAILS
The setbacks and delays we experienced due to the clamps have cost us a lot of time and money. The upcoming campaign is an effort to offset our losses and enter the upcoming year in the best possible position. Don't Worry! All the components to make YOUR Pakayaks have been bought and paid for with the funds we collected.
YOU
You can help us by simply forwarding and sharing emails, social media posts and our website with your network of friends. It's free and it will help us immensely.
We are getting so close to the finish line and we are so grateful for all of your support, encouragement and patience. Without you, we never would have gotten this far!
THANK YOU! Team Pakayak

Dear Backers,
As you already know, we are diligently working toward getting your boats to you as soon as possible. Here are some updates and details.
Latest News:
We are scheduled to start production by late October which means shipping should start in November. Of course, as we know more, we'll pass that information along.
History of the Clamp:
In the beginning…
Just to give you a little understanding into our processes, here is the prototype clamp that was used in the demo boats and in our Kickstarter video. Very large and cumbersome!

Recent History…
Here are some of the prototypes we built along the way…
Still quite large prototype clamp
3D printed prototype clamp
Another prototype clamp - getting smaller
Now…
Below is a mockup of the clamp that's currently being produced to our specs. The production clamp will have a longer angled thumb tab for better control. Much more streamlined than the original, or any of the ones in between!

Dear Backers,
As you all know by now, the only thing holding us up are the clamps. We have been working closely with our new clamp manufacturer to ensure a smooth and speedy completion within our new timeframe. The clamp tooling design is coming along nicely and the construction of the clamp tools has begun. Please know that we are doing everything we can to get into production as soon as possible.
We hope that you all are having a wonderful and safe summer (or winter, if you're Australia!).
We remain, as always, gratefully yours,
Team Pakayak (Doug, Zinelle, Day and Phil)
The Ball is Rolling Again

Dearest Backers,
In order to get our clamps produced to our specifications and get your Pakayaks to you as quickly as possible, we had to seek out a new clamp manufacturer. After much research, many meetings and several proposals, we have chosen a new clamp manufacturer and are getting the ball rolling again.
The new tools should be complete by the end of October which will allow us to be in production by the end of November. We will be able to provide a more solid timeframe for delivery as we get closer to that time.
We appreciate your continued patience as we work toward getting this very important piece of the puzzle completed.
As always we remain, gratefully yours,
Team Pakayak (Doug, Zinelle, Day and Phil)

Dearest Backers,
Thank you all so much for your patience as we work through the delay.
As we stated in our June 13th Update we will provide more information as we receive it. We do not want any of you to feel as if we are leaving you in the dark. This is an arduous process and we are trying to manage it while maintaining open communications with all of you.
THE GOOD NEWS - Gasket
The gasket formula has been adjusted to meet the original specs. So, let's check that one off the list! Yeah!!!!
The Not So Good News - Clamps
An update to the clamp production is still difficult due to timing. We have just received information that we need to have new tools produced to make our clamps. We are working to accomplish this task in the quickest possible way and once we know the time frame, we will update you.
Unfortunately, while we do not know an actual production date we know now that we will be unable to get boats to you before the end of the summer. The new tools needed for the clamps make that an impossible deadline to meet. We are very sorry to tell you that but please know that we are doing everything in our power to get your boats to you as fast as possible.
A Positive Note
We want to let you know that the clamps are the last item on our check list. Everything else is completed so that once the clamps are produced properly we will be jumping into production.
We are sincerely sorry and want you to know that we are not tiring from the push to get the best product to you.
As always, thank you so much for your interest and support - we can't do it without you!
